NIFR for changes in Sixth Pay Commission recommendations

Vadodara, June 23: The National Federation of Indian Railways (NIFR) has demanded changes in some of the recommendations of Sixth Pay Commission, its Joint Secretary J G Mahurkar said. Talking to newsmen here today, he said that 34 lakh Railway employees are upset and agitated over some of the recommendations of the pay Commission. He demanded merger of 74 percent dearness allownce with basic pay before fixing of pay scales effective from June 1, 2006 instead of 50 percent DA merger with basic pay scale as recomended by the pay Commission. He also demanded continuing payment of City Compensatory Allownce (CCA) to the employees, which has been abolished by the Commission. The INFR demanded that fixing of minimum pay should be Rs 7400 per month instead of Rs 6660, as fixed by the Commission.President of the Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh (WRMS) Shariefkhan Pathan, who was present in the press conference, appealed to the Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Railway board to consider their demands
