Plans to attach vegetable vendor coaches to trains

General Manager of South Western Railway Kuldeep Chaturvedi has said there are plans to attach a ‘special vegetable vendor' coach to trains passing through Belgaum.
According to a press release issued by SWR, Mr. Chaturvedi made this announcement on the sidelines of a recent function to lay the foundation stone of a running room building at the Belgaum railway station.

Several complaints

Mr. Chaturvedi told mediapersons that SWR had received several complaints from passengers about vendors selling vegetables in moving trains.
“However, the fact is that vegetable vendors do brisk business in trains.
We plan to address the issue through such coaches,” he said.
Running room
Earlier, Mr. Chaturvedi laid the foundation stone of the running room building. He hoped that the building would be on a par with similar facilities at Hospet and Castle Rock.

Cost
Divisional Railway Manager of Hubli Praveen Kumar Mishra said that the two-storeyed running room building was being built at a cost of Rs. 1.8 crore and could provide accommodation for 40 people.
The construction would be completed within 12 months.
