Meal coupons on Western Railway trains soon

MUMBAI: Western Railway (WR) will introduce meal coupons to prevent malpractices like overcharging or serving less than the mandatory quantity by pantry car operators on long-distance trains.

WR launched the service on the Mumbai Central-Jaipur Superfast Express on Thursday and plans to extend it to other trains soon. Central Railway has the system on the Dadar-Chennai Express and Konark Express , both of them south-bound trains.

Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer, WR, said, "The pre-printed meal coupons will be sold in advance by pantry car staff to passengers who want to have standard breakfast, lunch or dinner. Commuters can exchange the coupons at the time of service of meals by the pantry staff."
